Best practice for any piece of furniture takes a general precaution towards unusual environments. As such, we recommend avoiding exposure to direct sunlight, heat or humidity to prevent fading and cracking. Surfaces should be covered when possible to prevent obvious damage. Use coasters and mats under glasses and hot dishes. Please be aware that heavily dyed fabric, like dark wash denim, can transfer to your furniture and cause discoloration.

Don't place near sources of moisture

Humidifiers and exposure to other types of moisture can damage wood's finish.

Use damp, 100% cotton cloth for dusting wood surfaces. Dry thoroughly

Synthetic fibers can cause surface scratches.

Place protective materials under anything that will touch the surface

Place felt pads under lamps, computer equipment, clocks, etc. Use a protective pad when using a ballpoint pen, coasters under beverage glasses and avoid setting anything hot on your wooden furniture.

Use non-plastic mats or pads to protect the tabletop

Plastic or rubber materials can cause an undesirable reaction with the finish, therefore avoid plastic tablecloths, placemats, and table top accessories.

Fabric Care

Prepare a solution of one-fourth cup mild soap per gallon of lukewarm water. Use a soft bristle brush to clean, allowing the cleaning solution to soak into the fabric. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue and allow the fabric to air dry.

Surface care

Modern leather requires little cleaning or special care. Frequent dusting is the only real requirement. If soil accumulates, remove it with a clean, damp cloth. Do not saturate the leather. If leather furniture requires a more thorough cleaning, spot-test with leather cleaner in the least obvious area before using it anywhere else on the furniture.

 Cushion care

Wrinkles certainly add character and a natural aged look to leather. However, you can easily slow the onset of wrinkles by fluffing and turning detached cushions and pillows regularly.

 Spills

Blot any liquid spills on leather with a soft white cloth before using any leather cleaner.

Sunlight & heat

Exposure to direct sunlight harms and fades leather over time. Keep leather pieces out of contact with direct sunlight. Allow a couple feet between leather furniture and any direct heat source, such as a vent or a fireplace, which can quickly dry out the material.

Mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances if not removed from the fabric.

To Remove Mold or Mildew:

1. Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach and one-fourth cup mild soap per gallon of water.

2. Spray on the entire area and allow to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes.

3. Clean the entire surface area with a sponge, clean towel or very soft bristle brush.

4. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.

5. Air dry.

6. For severe mold/mildew growth, bleach quantities may be increased.

7. It is best to clean the entire surface area of the fabric to avoid water rings and stains.
